Mudras are symbolic hand gestures commonly used in yoga, meditation, and spiritual practices to channel energy and influence the mind and body. The word "Mudra" translates to "gesture" or "seal" in Sanskrit, and each mudra is believed to have its own specific purpose, aiding in everything from emotional balance to physical health.
Here are some of the most popular and widely practiced mudras:
1. Gyan Mudra (Mudra of Knowledge)
- How to do it: Touch the tip of your thumb to the tip of your index finger, keeping the other three fingers straight.
- Benefits: Enhances concentration, memory, and intuition. It's often used to improve mental clarity and is thought to stimulate the crown chakra (Sahasrara).
2. Chin Mudra (Mudra of Consciousness)
